4 easy peach cobbler recipes

Few desserts are as enticing and mouth-watering as the good old peach cobbler. Made mainly from fruit-based ingredients, this old-fashioned meal contains just the right amount of natural sweetness and the inherent juiciness of peaches. A peach cobbler usually has a buttery flavor, a thick crust, and a delectable layer of baked fruit, all of which make it the perfect indulgence for any occasion. It can also be customized to suit one’s tastes and preferences.

Traditional peach cobbler

Nothing beats a traditional peach cobbler that comes together in a handful of ingredients. This recipe needs four cups of sliced and peeled fresh peaches, a cup of all-purpose flour, a cup of sugar, a teaspoon of kosher salt, a teaspoon of baking powder, half a cup of milk, around four tablespoons of melted, unsalted butter, half a cup of boiling water, and a tablespoon of cornstarch. One can also include whipped cream or vanilla ice cream as a side serving.

  • Preheat the oven to about 325°F.
  • In a bowl, add the flour, three-quarters of a cup of sugar, half a teaspoon of salt, baking powder, melted butter, and milk. Mix this batter properly.
  • Place the peaches in a baking pan and cover them with a layer of the batter.
  • In a separate, smaller bowl, mix the remaining quarter cup of sugar, the remaining half teaspoon of salt, and the cornstarch. Sprinkle this powder mix over the batter.
  • Now, pour the boiling water into the batter.
  • Bake this mixture until it simmers, shows bubbles, and turns golden brown. It should take around 50 minutes. 
  • Garnish with sliced nuts and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

Peach cobbler with butter biscuit

Those who want to add a buttery flavor to their peach cobbler can try this recipe. It requires half a cup of unsalted butter, half a cup of brown sugar, three-quarters of a cup of white sugar, a tablespoon of cornstarch, and, of course, sliced and peeled peaches. One can use canned peaches if the fresh variety isn’t available (two cans should suffice). 

To add flavor, one will need a teaspoon of vanilla extract, half a teaspoon of nutmeg, a pinch of salt, and a teaspoon of ground cinnamon. A can of refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough is also required. While this covers it all, keep a few extra pinches of nutmeg, white sugar, and ground cinnamon handy. 

  • Preheat an oven to around 350°F.
  • Mix the peaches, white sugar, butter, cornstarch, brown sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl. Over a medium-heat flame, cook and stir this mixture until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves.
  • Now, spread out the biscuit dough pieces and sprinkle a pinch of white sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg on each piece. Flattened the biscuits with a rolling pin and cut each flattened piece into about 15 small squares. 
  • Add the squares to the peach mixture and stir for about ten minutes until the mixture thickens. The heat needs to be at medium-low.
  • Pour the peach-biscuit mix into a baking dish, leave it to cool and thicken, and then cover it with an aluminum foil sheet.
  • Bake the mix in the preheated oven for about an hour.

Blueberry peach cobbler

Adding blueberries to a peach cobbler is a good way to create a fruity and naturally sweet dessert. This recipe requires around 16 ounces of sliced and frozen peaches and around 12 ounces of frozen blueberries. The other ingredients include half a cup of mayonnaise, half a cup of granulated sugar, half a cup of firmly packed light brown sugar, a couple of teaspoons of baking powder, and all-purpose flour. 

  • Preheat the oven to about 350°F. 
  • Grease a baking dish or casserole and set it aside. 
  • In a bowl, combine the blueberries, granulated sugar, frozen peaches, and two tablespoons of flour. Put this mix on the greased baking dish and set it aside.
  • In another bowl, mix brown sugar, baking powder, and a cup and a half of flour. Add mayonnaise and stir with a fork until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle this mix on the fruit mixture. 
  • Transfer the combined mixture onto the greased baking dish and place it in the preheated oven. Do not remove it until it bubbles and turns golden brown.
  • The blueberry peach cobbler is ready. Garnish and serve after it cools down.

Gluten-free peach cobbler

To make this peach cobbler, one will need around six sliced and chopped fresh peaches, two and a half tablespoons of cornstarch, three-quarters of a cup of sugar, two egg yolks, two egg whites, a teaspoon of baking powder, and a quarter cup of melted butter. A cup of all-purpose oatmeal flour is what makes this recipe gluten-free.

  • Mix the sliced and chopped peaches with sugar and cornstarch and place them into a greased baking dish. 
  • In a separate bowl, mix oatmeal flour, egg yolks, baking powder, butter, and sugar. Soon after, fold in the egg whites and add them to the mix. 
  • Spread the combined mixture over the peaches on the baking dish. Bake for around 45 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and the batter appears bubbly. 
  • Serve this dessert with whipped cream or ice cream.

One must be careful when slicing and peeling whole peaches for any recipe. Peeled peaches are far too slippery to handle. So, before peeling the peaches, they need to be sliced around in a lengthwise manner. One can then grasp each half of the peach before twisting to separate them. After this, one can remove the pit and slice and peel the skin.
